Afro-Cuban jazz artist to release new album in March.
As Cuba is increasing its connections with the outside world, it is crucial to stress the beauty and power of the Cuban musical heritage. Among the numerous actors of this musical campaign, Daymé Arocena is a perfect embodiment of the rich and diverse classic rhythms of the “Pearl of the Antilles”. Her second LP is set to come out in March and here’s what to expect:
Daymé Arocena’s first album, Havana Cultura Mix, was released in 2014. Havana Cultura Mix was the first product of the singer’s collaboration with the DJ and promoter Gilles Peterson. While discovering Daymé Arocena’s work, one must take a look at the Havana Cultura Project, which serves as a platform for contemporary Cuban creativity driven by Havana Club Rum.
The singer released her debut album, Nueva Era, as a solo artist in 2015 and a year later an EP of cover versions titled One Takes. She has played shows all over the world, from Los Angeles to Tokyo and has made herself known not only for her amazing voice but also for her great sense of humor. On another note, she mentioned Kendrick Lamar and Anderson .Paak as two artists she would love to work with.
All is set for Daymé to enjoy an amazing year with a European tour starting 31 March in Germany. She’ll be going through Belgium, the Netherlands, France and the UK to showcase the unique flavour of her home country’s musical culture.
