After two years, the wait is finally over and you won't be disappointed.
You might already have come across his name on our webpage as one of his tracks was featured on our Mixtape #023, but things had become quiet around Isaiah Rashad since his widely acclaimed 2014 EP Clivia Demo. On September 2nd earlier this year however, the artist returned with his first full length album entitled The Sun's Tirade which was released on Top Dawg Entertainment, the label famous for signing artists such as Kendrick Lamar, Ab-Soul or ScHoolboy Q. His latest video clip for '4r Da Squaw' was released a couple of days ago.
Isaiah Rashad is a 25 year-old singer, songwriter and record producer from Chattanooga, Tennessee who started taking rapping seriously around the age of fifteen. After a couple of years spent recording at local studios and in 2012 Isaiah broke onto the bigger scene while touring with the likes of Joey Bada$$ and Juicy J.
The Sun's Tirade is a 17 track record spanning over an hour and 4 minutes. The album has soulful, punchy as well as more unconventional instrumentals, but no matter what kind of beat is thrown at him, Isaiah Rashad manages to unfold his lyrical talent. Whether he raps about his various emotional struggles, about the reality of growing up and leaving his youth behind or even about his desire to fall for his significant other, he always manages to keep his flow nimble and refined. Although Isaiah's choice of words and phrasing can sometimes feel a bit harsh due to the topics addressed, it is well balanced out by the smooth and groovy productions on the album. The Sun's Tirade also features the like of Zacari, Kendrick Lamar, Jay Rock, SiR and SZA just to name a few.
During the promotional tour for The Sun's Tirade, Isaiah revealed that the long hiatus, that started after the release his debut EP, was due to an alcohol and pill habit that almost got him kicked out of his record label three times. He's doing better now and the album he just released is proof of that. In Mid-August, the artist released a video clip for 'Free Lunch' as a teaser through which he confirmed the album's release date.
